Kickstart this year with a commitment to reduce waste and sign up for the Great Okanagan Waste Reduction Challenge.

GreenStep* is challenging the Okanagan Valley -- from Osoyoos to Vernon -- to significantly and measurably reduce the amount of waste we generate. The Challenge runs January 29 through March 15, and there are some pretty cool prizes available. But the best prize? Reducing the 590kg of waste generated per person annually in the Okanagan valley. That's 91kg more than the provincial average.

The waste we generate ends up in our landfills, which in turn produces methane - a potent greenhouse has that significantly contributes to climate change. Landfills have limited capacity, and GreenStep wants to help make our existing landfills last as long as possible.

Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone, from individuals to organizations and community groups. Get your office together and sign up, or challenge your recreational hockey teammates to step up and reduce their baseline waste-line.
