CANADA SUMMER JOBS PROGRAM

The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce is seeking three energetic and creative post secondary students  to join our team for the summer.  These individuals will bring their passion for making a difference and their strong organizational and interpersonal skills to a team that is focused on continuously creating value for our members and the communities we serve.  These positions will run for a minimum of eight weeks though the contract could be extended depending on the successful candidate and available budget.

Position 1 - Event Coordinator

The purpose of the job is to assist in driving member retention and attraction through delivery of valued quality events and programs. Under the direction of the Member Services Manager, the Event Coordinator serves the needs of the members by assisting with the Chamber's programs and events.

The role and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Coordinate tasks for Chamber programs and events as assigned ensuring workplans are in place and up to date for signature programs (Commerce ConneX, Business Excellence Awards, Speaker Series, Top 40 Program and Business Smarts).
  • Provide support to the Member Services Manager and Program & Member Services Lead to ensure fulfillment of program and event deliverables and event/program sponsorship.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to ensure marketing and promotional plans are in place for all programs and events.
  • Work with cross functional teams to further the strategic objectives of the Chamber.
  • Collaborate with the Member Services team to provide new and innovative events to enhance the deliverables to members and future members.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Member Services Manager

Position 2 - Project Administration Officer

The purpose of the job is to assist in driving member retention through communication with members to address account changes and profiles with their directory listing. Under the direction of the Member Services Manager, the Project Administration Officer serves the needs of the members by maintaining the Chambers database (CRM) while assisting with communications to members.

The role and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Assist in keeping the Chamber’s member database (CRM) up to date by adding new members, tracking member benefit uptake, and keeping member contact information up to date.
  • Assist with the on[1]boarding of new members by following the steps of the membership retention plan including the distribution of new member letters and renewal letters.
  • Ensure membership renewal packages are prepared and delivered.
  • Support the Member Services team with the delivery of the Chamber’s Member Retention Plan which includes fulfilling the Long-term Member Milestone program.
  • Work with cross functional teams to further the strategic objectives of the Chamber.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Member Services Manager

Position 3 - Marketing Coordinator

The purpose of the job is to create and review communications to engage with members, the public and key stakeholders. Under the direction of the Member Services Manager, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator assists with the communications activities and marketing and promotional initiatives for members.

The role and responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Review, research, and audit existing external communications with members noted within the Chamber’s retention plan including all Touchpoint items such as the welcome letter, renewal information and long-time recognition items.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to the Chamber’s current marketing and communications plan and assist in implementation of marketing initiatives meant to achieve growth targets for membership and event/program participation.
  • Support the Communications and Marketing Lead with social media including the development and execution of campaigns to expand the Chamber’s impact.
  • Explore new opportunities to profile the good work of members through the use of video and social media.
  • Assist with event communications including registration page and logos.
  • Compile member updates and facilitate member spotlights for the newsletter and social media.
  • Review the weekly on-line newsletter to ensure timely delivery.
  • Work with cross functional teams to further the strategic objectives of the Chamber.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Member Services Manager

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce is seeking a leader with a solid background working for a chamber of commerce/board of trade or similar member-based organization, to help lead our team as Director of Operations. This individual will bring their passion for making a difference and their strong organizational and interpersonal skills to an energetic team that is focused on continuously creating value for our members and the communities we serve. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be the administrative lead for the organization and its 1000+ members. As the Director of Operations, you will act as the hub of internal information including financial and operational processes and will support the activities of others to keep the organization thriving on a day-to-day basis. You will also be the go-to person in utilizing the organization’s CRM including mentoring other staff as needed. An exciting core component will be supporting the Executive Director in interfacing with the organization’s Board of Directors furthering the chamber’s strategic plan and vision.
