Kelowna: The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce wants visitors from the U.S. to feel welcome in Kelowna this summer. They have designed and printed up several thousand window decals to give free to local merchants – both members and non-members of the Chamber – to show their openness to cross-border visitors.

“Our phone started ringing this spring,” said George Greenwood, Chamber CEO, “from callers in the U.S. asking if it was ‘safe’ to visit Canada or if they would be welcome given the rhetoric they were hearing and seeing in the media. While we are proud of Canada’s response to U.S. threats of annexation, we understand it can be confusing for those who want to visit or vacation north of the border.”

“We created a very simple decal, 5”x5”, colour, for merchants and others to display. The message is straightforward:

Kelowna – A Warm Canadian Welcome – We share more than just a border

“We hope that lots of stores, offices, public offices, will display the signage. We’re happy to make them available from our Chamber office from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday at 544 Harvey Avenue. Or, people can call 250-861-3627 for more information, and we can help them get what they need.”
